A wonderful benefit of my business is the gifts clients bring me . This week I received "sevillanas" a candy from Mexico that is comes from the Spanish influence--they are two rice wafer discw filled with a wonderful caramel made from goat milk--good thing they are individually packaged or I would have eaten each one--gave several to other clients.
Later MH brought me northwest cherries that were shipped directly from the orchard--sweetest I have ever eaten--maybe I will freeze them like I use to do when I was a kid and we picked cherries at an orchard in Apple Valley, CA.
So in return I cut zinnias from my front yard for people to take home. I found some seeds for red zinnias that have the longest stalks that I have ever seen. And they last at least three weeks in a vase. Small acts of kindness bring us closer to helping our selves and the world in general.

Happy Hump Day
It's Wednesday hot Austin July: Here's the recipe for the gardener's hand cream:
2 tablespoonsof grape seed oil
1 tablespoon of honey
2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin
about 1 1/2 cups of finely ground almonds or rolled oats
Find a ceramic bowl, a spoon, and a pair of washable cotton gloves.
1. stir the following ingredients into the bowl:
grapeseed oil, honey, glycerin.
2. Add almonds or oats and stir until it forms a thin paste.
3. Rub the paste over your hands then put on the gloves and wear them overnight (if you can handle it).
Re-use the gloves after a gentle wash and store the rest of your cream in a jar with a tight- fitting lid.

Summer Items
1. The texas heat has beaten my appetite to a shred of its former self (yet my thirst continues--iced tea, flavored sparkling waters, beer, beer, maybe some white wine if a generous guest leaves some in the shop fridge...I won't digress into the confessions of a dipsomaniac...)
Description of a meal tonight: grilled leg of lamb steak rubbed with onion salt and W-sauce (the w is the word no one can say or wants to take the time to write) eaten with butter sauteed red onion, purple cabbage steamed on low with asparagus and bump scaly leafed dinosaur kale.
2. On the recipe front, check out my new hand care section on the website--there is a step by step for making your own "gardener's" hand cream. You need to have thin white cotton gloves to go with your application of the cream--you can find them in any body care section of a store or at a beauty supply related place--I had quite a few at one time but in my usual fashion gave them all away.
3. The recipe idea reminded me that I created a six meal a day diet for active lifestyle people--the major push of the diet is to drink your body weight in water each day: if you weigh 100 pounds you have to drink 100 ounces of water--this alone sheds ten pounds. Refer to the water calculator on the website--this will give you an accurate amount for your body, and if you would like a copy of the diet request one through e-mail.
4. The last thing I was writing about was a restaurant review by client RK--who claims it is an inexpensive (50 bucks for 4 diners) "New York style" eatery on the square in Blanco--said it was the best fried chicken ever sampled--the meat was unusually tender and moist--something else was said about a boulliabase soup but I lost that track because commercial mass quantity soup does not interest me in the least. Remember the moth ball incident at Landar's? And I will spare you the descriptions of what I observe happening in and around the vats of liquid whatever at the mother ship (WFoods). Restaurants are lost on me lately--insultingly expensive and revoltingly loud with wait staff that make you apologize for decent service or god-forbid asking for a re-fill or silverware...I am not exaggerating, just think about the last time you went out to enjoy good food and the company of friends to be completely disappointed and disillusioned.
